Educated at the London School of Economics, Jonathan has been a foreign correspondent, media adviser, and consultant on African political, economic and social systems for more than 25 years. Until recently, he was Africa correspondent of The (London) Times, based in Johannesburg. Before that he was Africa Bureau Chief for the Reuters News Agency, based in Nairobi.

Jonathan has also worked extensively for the United Nations and was the first Editor in Chief of the UN’s award-winning IRIN humanitarian information service. He has also served as Deputy Editor of the United Nations Environment Programme’s flagship magazine, Our Planet (www.unep.org/ourplanet)

To date, Jonathan has undertaken media training assignments for major international mining and telecommunications companies in Botswana, Nigeria, Kenya, Tunisia, Cote d’Ivoire, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, DRC, Mozambique, Gabon and Tanzania – as well as South Africa.
